UPSC Notification 2025 : Notification Release

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) uploaded the detailed UPSC Notification 2025 pdf for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2025 and Indian Forest Service (Preliminary) Examination 2025 at its official portal, https://upsc.gov.in/, on 22nd January 2025. The detailed notification includes complete details about eligibility, selection process, updated exam pattern and much more details. Candidates interested in appearing for the UPSC CSE 2025 exam must check the complete details about the exam to prepare efficiently and smoothly. 


UPSC Notification 2025 : Important Dates

As per UPSC Exam Calendar 2025, the prelims exam for UPSC CSE & IFS 2025 will be conducted on a single day on 22nd May 2025 (Sunday). The mains exam for Civil Services Examination 2025 has been scheduled for 5 days beginning from 22nd August 2025 onwards and for Indian Forest Service, the mains exam is scheduled form 16th November 2025 for 5 days.

UPSC Notification 2025 : Vacancy Details

This year a total of 1129 vacancies are announced for various Civil Service posts to be filled through the Civil Service Examination (CSE) and Indian Forest Service Examination (IFS). Out of the total announced vacancies, 979 vacancies will be filled thorugh the UPSC CSE Exam 2025 and 150 vacancies through UPSC IFC Exam 2025.

UPSC Notification 2025 : Eligibility Criteria

Check the UPSC eligibility criteria before applying for the UPSC Exam 2025 and ensure that they meet all the eligibility criteria as mentioned below -

Nationality

For the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Forest Service and Indian Police Service, the candidate must be an Indian citizen. For other services, the candidate  can be -
  • An  Indian citizen, or
  • A subject of Nepal of Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962, or
  • A person of Indian origin who migrated from countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Or East African nations, with the intention of permanently setting in India.

Educational Qualification

A candidate must have a Graduate degree from a recognized university in India or an equivalent qualification.
  • Candidates who have appeared for a qualifying exam or plan to appear before the Civil Services exam are eligible to apply, but they must provide proof of passing the exam before the Interview, Personality Test.
  • In rare cases, the Commission may accept candidates with other qualifications if they are considered equivalent to the required standard.
  • Candidates with professional qualifications recognized by the Government are also eligible.
  • Medical candidates (e.g. - MBBS) who haven't completed their internship by application time can still apply but must provide proof of passing their final exam. They must show completion of their internship at the time of the Interview.

Age Limit

A candidates must be between 21 and 32 years old on 1st August 2025. This means the candidate must be born between 2nd August 1993 and 1st August 2004.

UPSC Notification 2025 : Selection Process

The UPSC selection process for 2025 involves three main stages -

Preliminary Examination (Prelims)

  • Two objective-type papers :   Paper 1 - General Studies , Paper 2 - CSAT
  • It is a screening test to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination.

Main Examination (Mains)

  • Written test with nine papers including Essay, General Studies (four papers), Optional Subjects (two papers) and qualifying Indian and English Language papers.

Interview

  • Candidates who clear Mains are interviewes to assess their personality and communication skills.

UPSC Notification 2025 : Exam Pattern

Prelims

  • The UPSC Prelims 2025 will be scheduled for 25th May 2025.
  • It has two objective papers - General studies and CSAT.
  • To be called for the Mains, candidates must clear the cutoff in Paper I and Paper II is qualifying, requiring at least 33% marks.

UPSC Notification 2025 : Application form

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited eligible  graduates to apply for the UPSC CSE and IFS Exam 2025 for which the complete schedule has been already announced with the annual calender. Along with the release of UPSC Notification 2025 on 22nd January 2025, the application forms are also made available at www.upsc.gov.in. As lakhs of candidates annually apply for these exams, therefore, is is advised to apply forms much before the last date i.e. 11th February 2025 to avoid last minute rush.


UPSC Notification 2025 : How to Apply?

Ensure thet you meet the eligibility criteria specified by the UPSC for the particular examination you are interested in. Follow the below steps to apply for UPSC CSE 2025 Exam -
  1. Visit the official UPSC website at  https://upsc.gov.in/ .
  2. Look for the "Apply Online" link on the homepage.
  3. If you are a first-time applicant, you will need to register by providing basic details such as name, date of birth, email ID and mobile number.
  4. After successful registration, a unique registration ID and password will be generated. Note them for future use.
  5. Log in using the registration ID and password.
  6. Fill in the required details in the online application form including personal information, educational qualification, choice of examination centre, etc.
  7. Upload scanned copies of your photograph and signature in the prescribed format and size.
  8. Pay the application fee online using the available payment options.
  9. Review the filled-in application form before submission to ensure accuracy.

UPSC Notification 2025 : Salary

The starting salary for an IAS officer in India is Rs. 56,000/- per month. This can increase over time, ranging from Rs. 56,000/- to Rs. 1,32,000/- per month as the officer gets promotions. After many years of service, a top position like Cabinet Secretary can earn around Rs. 2,50,000 /- per month, generally after 37+ years in service.
